Commemoration of Tokyo’s Le Corbusier building makes UNESCO world heritage list:
    Le Corbusier and Kunio Mayekawa
    May. 30 Tue. - Sep. 10 Sun. 2017

In 2016, the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo’s Ueno was listed by UNESCO world heritage as the first of its kind in Tokyo. In commemoration, French architect Le Corbusier, the building’s designer, and Kunio Mayekawa, who learned architecture directly from Le Corbusier, are the focus of this exhibition. Their works and philosophy are illustrated. Mayekawa’s home, which has been relocated to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, buildings of the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum are also featured in this exhibition that examines Le Corbusier’s influence in Japan and the world and how Mayekawa blazed new trails in Japan.
